Silly Kids

Oh Ben.

There is so much going on and the kids are changing so much. They're becoming these grown people and let me tell ya, they're hilarious. The things that come out of their little mouths just have us cracking up.
Ben has been on a roll:

(driving in the car, he spots a man in a plaid shirt riding a bike)
"That man looks like Daddy. Not zack-ly like Daddy, but similar"

(Our friend and babysitter, Sarah, was watching Ben on Monday afternoon. She hears Ben in the bathroom and investigates. He's painting his nails yellow.)
S "Ben, if you want to paint your nails, we have to go outside"
B "Otay"
(She heads out with the polish and waits........and waits..........)
B "SAAAAA-WWAAAAHHH, COME WIPE MY BUTT, MY NAILS ARE WET!!"

Big changes

It's come to my attention that I am neglecting the blog. That could be due to a few things, none of which I will name here because I am too busy prepping my family to leave our house for 6 months.
Our friends, Holly & Jason will be living here while we are away. They have 2 kids, Millaa, 4 & Reef, 2. They moved out of their apartment, flew to Chicago and will be in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan until we leave. They moved their (amazing 1970) couches into our living room (we got rid of our severely abused Ikea couches and now feel like we're sitting in George & Josie's living room circa '72. It's awesome!) They also needed to store a twin trundle bed that Millaa sleeps in. So, we got rid of Ben's beloved toddler bed to make room for the twin. Ben is not a fan of change, so I started to get nervous. He helped me carry the toddler bed out of the house and felt like a big strong man. The big bed arrives and it is a white sleigh bed with flowers carved into it. (Not very manly). Ben starts growling. Then he sees the trundle drawer and starts naming things that he can store inside, Legos, fire trucks, himself. He thinks that he can sleep in the drawer and I'll shut him inside.....and loves the idea. We go on, moving, rearranging, etc. We have no twin sized sheets, so Lily and I go out in the afternoon and search for a pirate set. No luck. We find red sheets, but not in twin, so we go with a black set (black as night, argh!). Then, in the birthday aisle, we find a banner with little Jolly Roger flags. While the kids are in the bath, I make his bed and hang up the banner. Ben walks in and we are holding our breath. He says, "WHAT?! ............that bed is a pirate ship. I like that bed." He then gets his pajamas on and asks if he can go to bed right away. Yay!

Old bed, bought for $10 on Craig's list for Lily to sleep in when we had Ben. The lady selling it gave us all of her boy baby clothes because she was having a girl. Matt saved her address and we sent her a ton of girl clothes...since we were having a boy. (a happy Craig's list story, no one getting chopped up)

What was once Millaa's bed is now a manly pirate ship! "Argh Lady!" (what Ben says)
